Radiate with Light

This morning, a friend was educating me about Circadian Rhythms. According to the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, Circadian Rhythms are physical, mental, and behavioral changes that follow a 24-hour cycle. These natural processes respond to light and dark and most living things, including animals, plants, and microbes.

So, one of the many ways to enhance our Circadian Rhythm towards better health is to be sure we get enough daylight. Aaaahhh… sunlight… which also helps to produce serotonin, the brain chemical that governs our happiness and self-esteem.

Anyways, here are some tips he shared with me:

One. Spend 15 minutes watching the sunrise (just like the picture I took during one of my mornings when I was on my way to work).

Two. Between 8.00am to 9.15am, go under the sun as long as we can, exposing our skin as much as we can.

Three. 1.00pm to 2.00pm is when the ultraviolet is at it’s peak when VitD3 produces quickest. So expose ourselves to the sun at least 15 minutes.

Four. Spend 15 minutes watching the sunset.

He encouraged me to try this empowering exercise and reminded me to increase the light factor in my day. For happiness and better self-esteem? Why not!
