My therapist told me recently I have an objectively successful career with a charming personality. He then added, “A woman of your stature attracts men because you seemed to be unattainable.”
Heh. Interesting choice of words.
I actually laughed at that statement & questioned, “If I was a man, I would seem to be just another regular Joe?”
When I was sharing to Aylwin what my therapist told me, he then sent me this BBC video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JfJhJWxB9Q&ab_channel=BBC.
It said, “Women have told everyone to just f**k off tired of being judged for choosing to have children or not have children to have children and go back to work to have children and not go back to work for being too thin too fat too pushy unambitious too hot not hot enough…”
So true, isn’t it? We do get judged with everything.
My personal opinion here is that society will always scrutinize us women more than they will do against men. Because the society does have higher expectations of us women. After all, we women are naturally talented & have better instincts, so we do have the potential to do bigger things, but better.
Just like the African saying, “If you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a generation.”
😉
Happy International Women’s Day, sisters. Let’s continue to strive to #breakthebias.
