The other day I heard the notorious professional football manager Jose Mourinho said, “They are guided, they discover the way. I’m not Waze.” I found that line so funny when he said “I’m not Waze.”
He then added, “They are special talents. Without the team, they cannot express what they have. Everything is about the team. I do not coach football players. I coach football teams.”
It does make so much sense. Each player would have their strengths. We don’t tell the striker go left or go right. They know cause that is what they do best. But they do need coaching on how to work together with others so they can perform at their best – together.
We don’t want to have a superstar only. We want a team of superstars.
