I know Thomas from the app I wrote about yesterday. And this is an amazing story that he told me.
At 44, with a BMI dangerously at 45.0, his weight peaked at 151kg. “My obesity ruined my life,” he said to me.
His wife divorced him. He became an alcoholic. He refused to go out with this friends, worrying he would be the subject of humiliation. He lost confidence in himself. He was unhappy.
His depression pushed him to thinking of taking his own life in a few occasions. But finally, instead of deciding to take his own life, he decided he wanted to take control of his own life.
So began his journey of transforming his body. He spent thousands of hours researching and trying new routines & diet menus that would suit him the best. He learnt how to eat healthy. In less than half a year, he lost more than 40kg. He then told me, “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.”
Like a lot of people, Thomas lost his job during the pandemic. Now at 48, a lot of recruiters just took one look at his date of birth, and concluded, he is too old to be employed. Why? Because he is over 40 years old.
Like come on, he is nearing 50 already! Too old to learn new tricks. Too old to change. Too old to chase goals and accomplishments.
Well, I would really like to see these recruiters who judge people like Thomas so quickly whether they would had the determination and bravery to change for the better like he did even when he was way over 40 years old 🙄.
Anyways… Thomas specializes in export business. Developed business in more than 35 countries, he is particularly very experienced in opening markets in Africa, Middle East as well as sub-Indian continents. Very adaptable to change, constantly striving to be a better himself.
