For the longest time, I had neglected myself.
I didn’t fight for what I deserved. I didn’t ask for what I wanted. I didn’t take my credits when they were due.
Instead, I kept giving in to people till I don’t know what dignity is anymore.
And I kept trying so hard to please everybody, not knowingly it costed me my happiness.
Well, no more. No, thank you.
I’ve come to accept, putting myself first is not being selfish. Even if it is, I’ve learnt it’s just being smart, actually.
Because just like how the late beloved comedian Lucille Ball said, “Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.”
It’s true, you know. In order to take care of you, I have to take care of myself, first.
So should you.
