For all my direct reports, I do take the effort to bring them out for lunch on the first day. Julia was hired as a recruiter to recruit recruiters for the branches and the rest of us are all hiring managers. Coincidentally, I terjumpa them at the lobby, so jom!
Because as recruiters, it’s important for us to bond with hiring managers. We can accomplish this by establishing clear communication to understand their needs and building trust & collaboration so we can deliver quality candidates consistently.
The other thing I find particularly helpful is that, recruiters can also take an interest in the hiring manager’s department and goals. We actively listen to their concerns so we can chip in also to offer solutions to any challenges they may face especially in the hiring process.
And we can start doing all that with a smile during lunch!
