PH in Sabah & Sarawak How?

Some of you from Sabah & Sarawak asked, “If two public holidays coincide, do we get a replacement holiday as stated in the Employment Act 1955?*”

Unfortunately, the answer is no.

In Sabah & Sarawak, we must refer to the Sabah Labour Ordinance and Sarawak Labour Ordinance, respectively. Neither ordinance mandate that a replacement holiday be granted when two public holidays coincide. So, the situation is similar to that of civil servants**.

However, to sejukkan your hati, both states do have a higher minimum number of gazetted public holiday. While Semenanjung Malaysia & FT Labuan have 11 days only, Sabah enjoys 14 days and Sarawak 16 days. So okay lah… We give some, we take some.
