Most of us are familiar with the term “quiet quitting.” It’s that idea of doing the bare minimum, no more, no less. We are not leaving our jobs but we are disengaging ourselves. We preserve our energy but also holding back from full engagement.
But does quiet quitting actually help anyone?
Personally, I feel it’s more of a short-term bandage than a real solution. It may protect us from burnout temporarily, but in the long run, it doesn’t do much for our career or dare I add, mental health too.
Now, here is a better alternative – Proactive Boundary Setting 💡
Instead of withdrawing from our role, Proactive Boundary Setting encourages us employees to openly communicate our limits and workloads with our employer, protecting our mental health while still showing up as our best self. It’s about drawing healthy boundaries before burnout hits, rather than mentally checking out.
In today’s work culture, especially post-pandemic, finding that balance is important.
So, before you resort to quiet quitting, consider setting proactive boundaries. It’s not about doing less but it’s about being strategic with our time and energy.
Your career and well-being will thank you!
