I have been working in my current company for more than 15 years.
For more than 15 years I am on this incentive plan that promotes consistency.
The incentive is awarded on yearly results against a yearly budget but paid out in advance quarterly.
If I do well in the earlier quarters but screwed out my later quarters, I am basically screwed for I would have taken more than I had earned, so come year end, I would had owned the company monies.
That is why being a consistent performer is important if I do not want my incentive reversed.
A lot of colleagues & ex-colleagues are not in favour of this incentive scheme because why take back the money already given? I can understand that sentiment but I also came to realization eventually, the scheme had trained me to perform consistently.
Because it’s true. It’s not how you start a race that matters, it’s how you end. Ending has to be grand.
