That was the first management book that I managed to finish reading.
I was quite young and was just promoted to be a people’s manager not too long ago. My boss told me it will be good for me to start reading ‘management’ books. I shared with her I find management books quite dry & ‘deep that I struggle to understand, hence lose interest quickly.
She then introduced me this book – The Ice Cream Maker: An Inspiring Tale About Making Quality The Key Ingredient in Everything You Do by Subir Chowdhury.
Subir Chowdhury, who is known for his work in quality & management, wrote this book about how a struggling Ice Cream factory turned the business around by focusing in:
- Delivering quality service/product to customers, creating the great customers experience &
- Listening & taking care of your employees, creating the great employee experience so they will excel in executing #1
Like how my then boss promised, it was an easy reading book like a story book. With some odd 100 pages in medium sized fonts, I managed to finish the book on a Saturday. I texted my boss, thanking her for the introducing me the book.
And since I started to read ‘deeper’ management books in which I quite enjoy today.
