So the saying goes, “A new broom sweeps clean”, because when the broom’s brush starts to curve or loses it’s stiff fibers, be it made of plastic, hair or corn husks, it doesn’t sweep as clean as it used to be.
I am sure it happens to a lot of us the same. When we first start a new job, we will be super hardworking & excited. But after a while we will lose our mojo because:
- We burnt out.
- We got bored.
So how do we manage that? The answer is right there too:
- Don’t get burnt out.
- Don’t get bored.
Aaaahhhh… easy to say but how to do it? This is what we can do:
- As excited as we are, remember to take a break. We can put in all that extra hours when we start a new job, but don’t forget to take care the wellness of our mind and soul. You know just like long distance marathon runners, they pace themselves throughout the course so they can get to the finish line, preserving that stamina & mental strength at the same time.
- Create new projects for yourself. That is why I always think being innovative at work, no matter what you position/industry you are in, is important. If you don’t have the capacity to start project, perhaps go look around to join one. Referring back to the analogy of the broom, it’s like we replace the broom’s brush so we can sweep clean again.
So to all you New Brooms out there, don’t lose your bristles & stay excited!
