On Friday I attended our annual regional HR conference. Just like last year, borders were closed, so we had it virtually. During the conference’s half-time, our regional HR team who organized the event, arranged a game for us to play. It was a simple game of Charades but I had so much fun in it.
I am an advocate of playing games during meetings for many reasons. It reduces tension in the room, and it encourages people to be more participative. And many times when we play games during meeting, everybody will be laughing, releasing endorphins in the brains, boosting that energy level for the 2nd half of the meeting. Which is why a good time to play is right after lunch, to prevent people from falling into a food coma.
The fav game I like to organize is a quiz powered with kahoot.it. In the beginning of the meeting, we will tell everybody there will be a quiz game later and the questions are based on information presented during the meeting. So during the meeting itself, it also ‘forces’ me to pay attention, for I will be drafting the questions on the spot. I love this kahoot tool – it’s easy to use & engages the audience.
And like all games, there must be a prize to win. So if you want to win, pay attention to the rules. Aaahhhh…. we kiasu people always want to win, so we organize win to facilitate that =}
