If you speak to my colleagues around my age who were consultants in the temporary staffing business many, many years ago, most of us will have this story to tell you.
Client asked for a temp receptionist to fill in their perm receptionist who is going to be on leave.
We sourced and arranged a temp receptionist to go to fill in.
On the day itself, the temp didn’t show up. Didn’t pick up the call to tell us why also. Just poof! Disappeared.
So how now brown cow?
We quickly go find a replacement and if they don’t have the transport to go (this is like 15 years ago, no Grab, no MRT, taxi was like babi), we will pick them up and fetch them to go.
Or we packed our bags and go to man the front desk ourselves. Because we promised the client we will kautim for them, even if it meant ourselves to be the filler.
And that’s how we rolled.
