You know what is hard to bounce back from? A PIP (Performance Improvement Plan).
Why? Because a lot of time the manager’s intention of PIP is not right – the focus is not to Improve but to Remove – big problem that.
But over my years of experience, it’s not all gloom & doom. I do see people surviving PIPs including myself. We just need to get it into our head – we must improve, we must improve, we must improve!!!
During the PIP session, negotiate:
1. For more training and assistance,
2. An achievable target/goal,
3. Ample time to improve,
And go for it. Improve!
