This is Steven.
And Steven bought me lunch. Because it was his turn.
It started a few years ago when a colleague asked me out for lunch and Steven tagged along. I bought him our first lunch with the motive that he would need to ajak me out makan again to pay for the next one to square it off. I call it collecting my lunch-date debts.
I remember when I was paying the bill at the cashier, I saw him pulling out his wallet & I told him that I will pick up this tab so he can pay for the next one, I added, ” Now that you know I am quite nice to have lunch with, right? Not scary at all, right?” And he nodded saying, almost in relief, “Yes, yes yes!” Really, really!”.
Because I do understand that I come across as intimidating, especially with my position title. So I am not surprised to learn people do get nervous when lunching with me, esp the more junior employees like the younger Steven. But on the contrary, people do find it surprising that I can be very easy-going too. They just to experience me once.
Very grateful I am, Steven did ajak me go out for lunch 2 weeks later and he has been my occasional lunch buddy since. But Steven has left us for greener pastures few months back & now that I am writing this post, I just realised I actually miss our lunch dates more than I thought.
So people, esp my colleagues who are reading this post who are based in AIA Sentral, if you do have plans to come to office/Pavi on weekdays, do come ajak me for lunch and let me get to know you better too.
