This is Irene.
I’ve known Irene for a very long time, more than a decade long. In a lot of those years, we spend our nights in the office working late together that I often refer us as peas and carrots. One moment you can hear us screaming at each other (she is one of the rare ones who dare to raise her voice at me) and the next moment you can see us making up, sending each other love notes. She is also one of the rare ones who will ask me out for lunch without any particular reason.
Irene takes her work very seriously. During payroll period, she will go into hiding to ensure the employees are paid on time every time. However, when she does have the time, she will surface again, sending messages to random employees to engage because she is the kind of person whom pays attention what is going on around in the office.
What is amazing about Irene is that, whatever you throw at her, she tackles it with a smile and can-do attitude. She always tries her best to service the people especially when it comes to creating the great employee experience, which we all can value.
And that is Irene.
Who is also better known as Mama Cheah to most people who has worked with her. Because that is how she is, ensuring everybody is well fed and well taken care of. Just like mom.
