#CoverLetters

People do ask, is it better to attach a cover letter when applying for a job.

Well, cover letters were attached when email was not a thing. So if you are sending a job application via email, I will say a cover letter attachment is really unnecessary. Because the email body can do the job as the cover email.

The cover email is like a movie trailer. It’s a sneak peak of the resume. Like a good movie trailer which sets the mood of the story and highlight the exciting parts, a good cover email should also do the same. Highlight our strengths and most importantly why we are a perfect fit for the job.

To achieve all that, my advice would be to invest your heart a little. Don’t just copy, paste, and send, send, send. Put some thoughts into it. Tease the recruiter a bit if you will. Make it sexy to entice the recruiter to open your resume attachment and your chance to getting a job interview will be closer.
