Somebody told me last night, “IT candidates are quite cold.” I found that statement so funny because I can understand why he said it. But I wouldn’t say it’s limited to IT candidates only, some people are just like that. They don’t mean harm, but doesn’t know how to exude warmth.
I remember my first few months in recruitment making cold calls to candidates asking them would they want to be a promoter for a client of mine. Just as expected when you make cold calls, I received a lot of cold no’s. Though eventually I got used to the cold answers, when I did managed to speak with someone with a friendly tone, it cheered me up the moment even if the person said no.
So that statement I heard last night reminded me to be friendlier the next time around a telemarketer calls me, and sound less annoyed. Who knows I can cheer up that person’s moment, right?
