There was this time I had a conversation with a colleague. She told me she wanted to leave because she felt she was underpaid.
However, the more I talked to her, I realised it wasn’t just about the money. And she didn’t want to say more.
Anyhow, I evaluated her performance & her pay, and I agreed. Below market. So I told my boss to adjust her pay. However, I also told my boss that from my experience, even if we did, she would leave anyways.
My boss said, it’s okay. We want to be fair and do her right first. To show faith that we do appreciate her.
