“Ling, you are seriously looking amazing. Please tell me what’s the secret”
“No secret-lah. I just eat a little less and do 45 mins workout on weekends. I still pig out esp weekends”
“Oh that sounds pretty ok. I think it’s doable”
“It is! Very!!”

But you know what worked the most for me? Words of encouragements.
I did think about it for a while. Whether I want to post this picture. I mean, look at that. I don’t have the hottest body. That tummy with stretchmarks like an atlas. That disfigured left arm with 3rd degree burns & that right arm is just as flabby too.
I was not always this unfit, you know. In fact, when I was a kid, I was an athletic one. I always brought home medals from sports day, I danced the ballet & I was pretty good at flipping skateboards too. But after my plastic surgery at 10, I got lazy.
I was bed-ridden for 1 month at the hospital. When I was discharged, I couldn’t participate in sports for so long. So long that me & my new friends, Laziness, Puberty, Potato Chips and TV became bffs. And the rest is history.
I have struggled with my weight & body my whole adult life. From 42kg to 92kg to 69kg to 78kg to… you get my drift.
Then in Nov 2021, I got hospitalized for Pneumonia. Doctor told me I have to be on diabetic & high BP pills already. It’s stressing my scarred lungs. I slumber je like, “Okay, I can do that.” Not scared at all.
However recently, when I was thinking about all my Not-To-Do Bucket list, it suddenly did. I’m so scared now. There are so many things I want to do & I’m so scared there won’t be enough time. So, I got my ass up & stepped on that treadmill one fine Saturday.
And when I was finally brave enough to post about this journey of mine, I was so, so moved with people’s words of encouragements. Taking the effort to tell me I look better and gambate! Some of them were friends I did not exchange words with for quite a while even.
Very, very, very motivating indeed. Perhaps, that is the secret. xoxoxo

P.S. If you want to comment about anything about this picture, I just want to share this quote with you from Dave Willis – “Be an encourager. The world has enough critics already.” 🙃
