When I was a young manager, I didn’t dress up to a subordinate’s birthday party. Because I thought it was just another casual Saturday birthday party with my friends.
Then my boss came to me and said, “You should put a little more effort to dress up next time. Because you are their boss. Need to look pretty and nicer.”
Right…
It did take me quite a while to get it to my head. That dressing up for work and occasions is a sign of respect.
Come to think about it, it does make sense that my team would want to have a boss that can be admired to look at, right? So for the past years, I do try to dress to the nines. Besides, all the nice compliments that come along with it does help with the ego boost.
