It was my first ever paid external training I was being sent to more than 15 years ago. But till today I still remember the answer.
A young man in a similar situation as Wein, who did not have a supportive boss, belittles him, does not listen to his opinions etc. asked the trainer what he can do with the boss. The trainer just answered him to change the boss the instead.
It makes so much sense, you know.
Honestly, being in corporate for almost 2 decades, there are bosses you can’t fight against. It’s just going to be another losing battle. So we be wise in choosing our battles and focus our energy on outcomes which are within our control.
Thus, while we searching for a new boss, we just do our job and we do it well. Just like the Chinese saying, 騎牛搵馬 which literally translates to “ride cow, find horse.”
