The Collins Dictionary defines the phrase as, “If you say that the world is someone’s oyster, you mean that they can do anything or go anywhere that they want to.”
The phrase was originally from William Shakespeare’s play titled “The Merry Wives of Windsor” which he published in 1602. In the play, there was this character called John Falstaff who responded, “Why, then, the world’s mine oyster which I with sword will open!” when he was denied what he asked for.
And over the years that line evolved to “the world is your oyster” to bring a more inspirational meaning.
It doesn’t matter when we are denied of something of what we want. If we have the opportunity & the ability to do so ie the sword, we can use them to open up the oyster to get to where we want to be or get what we wish for in life ie the pearl inside.
So now, we need a sharp sword and for me that is getting the right education. Education is very important indeed. It’s awesome you’re here learning & acquiring knowledge. Knowledge is power after all and with knowledge, the world is your oyster!
So we keep on learning. Learn from books. Learn from YouTube. Learn from our mistakes. Learn from the experience.
Sharpen our sword and we go slay our oyster world.
