To Snap or Not To Snap

If you google whether it’s a good idea to insert a photo of yourself in your resume, most of the articles will tell you not so to avoid unconscious bias.

For myself, I am old school. I like to put a face to the voice. So I do prefer to see a photo of the applicant in the resume. However, if there is no photo, it also doesn’t affect my decision if I am going to call up the candidate.

But if you do decide to insert a picture into your resume, I just have one advice. Please do not use your passport picture. There is this joke with my friends that because we are not allow to set our hair, nor we are allowed to smile in our passport photos, the passport photo is one of the most unattractive photo of us.

And there is no ugly people. As long as you smile, your face will look nice. After all “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
