This fable tells the story of the popular Hare. Many beasts claimed to be her friends. But one day, she heard the hounds were coming after her for dinner. So she went to her friends to seek for help to escape from the hounds.
The Horse said, “I can’t help to carry you on my back because I have important work do for my master.”
The Bull said, “I can’t help to repel the hounds for you with my horns because I have an appointment with a lady.”
The Ram said, “I can’t help to defend you because I fear the hounds will eat us sheep too.”
Hmph.
By this time, the hounds were getting closer to the Hare. Last-last, without any help, the Hare then quickly took to her heels and luckily escaped.
Moral of the story? When you think you have many friends, but actually you have no friends.
Has this happened to you before? Actually, it happened to me quite a number of times. But I guess it’s okay. Because ultimately, I have to just remind myself, my heels are still good so I can still hop forth to save my own life.
