This fable is one of my favourites. It tells how timid the Hares were & super fearful of other beasts that one day they decided to commit suicide. Because they were so fed up with living in fear that had caused them so much misery.
So, the Hares went to the pond to drown themselves. When they were at the pond, the Frogs were startled & scampered away. Then a Hare said, “Look! Things are not so bad after all, for here are creatures who are even afraid of us!”
Very true indeed.
A lot of times, it’s us who work ourselves up to our imaginary misfortunes, don’t you think? We grumble at the moon & the stars when our own perverse minds are only to blame.
Well, it’s not that I don’t victimize myself. I do that too sometimes. Just that when I do, I also try to remember however unfortunate I may think I am, there is always someone worse off than myself. Just like the Frogs.
And honestly, that always had given me comfort. Everytime.
