Let’s be real. The rat race is a marathon and not a sprint. So if we want to make it to the finish line in one piece, we will be needing allies. My practical advice is, put in a little more effort in building relationships.
Bosses, colleagues, subordinates, clients, vendors and even competitors!
Well, we don’t have to go to the extend of apple polishing all like writing them love letters and serenading them with love songs. But a hint of buttery flattery that is just enough to make people not perceive us as soulless (or worse snobbish) and to remind people that it might be worth it having us around.
This is a good suggestion. Food. Yes, food is always a great tool to unify us Malaysians besides Michelle Yeoh. You know, like you can treat everybody roadside karipaps for breakfast once in a while. It costs RM0.50 per karipap, so if you buy 20, it’s only RM10.00 – a small investment that most of us can afford. If you can cook or bake, better!
Remember, in the world of business, relationships matter. A little charm can go a long way. Especially when you want to survive this rat marathon.
