SMART Questions

Very often we hear about setting SMART goals for appraisals. Because when a goal that is smart, measurable, attainable, relatable and time-bound, it does appear smart indeed.

I find during interviews, when asked the question, “Do you have any questions?”, A good question can also be a SMART question.

When a candidate asks SMART questions, it not only shows that the candidate is experienced & interested but also have a good understanding of the role.

Like… how a sales manager can ask, “What specific initiatives is the company currently implementing to drive revenue growth, and how does the sales team fit into those plans? Can you provide any measurable targets or goals that the sales team is working towards in the short and long-term?”

Asking SMART questions can also create meaningful conversations with your potential boss, and one can evaluate how much clarity they have. The conversation can eventually help you make a smart decision about the job, if it makes sense.”

And… Don’t get caught in the “no stupid questions” trap. Let’s be real – some questions just don’t cut it. Make the smart choice and go for SMART questions instead. They’re always a winner!
