CV or Resume?

CV or Curriculum Vitae means “course of life” in Latin. It is a detailed document that outlines a job applicant’s entire career history with information like education background, work experience, skills, achievements etc.

…………

Resume is a French term which means “summary.” So, it is a document that highlights a job applicant’s relevant skills and experience for a specific job. A CV summary, if you will.

…………

To me, it doesn’t really matter actually. Regardless whether you submit a CV or a resume for a job application, important is that the document highlights your relevant skills and experience for the job you are applying for and it is tailored to the specific position and company.

H – HIGHLIGHT your relevant experiences & notable achievements.

I – INCLUDE keywords to beat the Applicant Tracking Systems.

R – RESEARCH about the company & role to cater your contents.

E – EMPHASIZE your value proposition that you can offer.

D – DOUBLE-CHECK for errors especially typos.

Happy weekend everybody. And best of luck in your job search!
