I just turned 45 two weeks ago. I’ve been in the workforce solutions business for so long that I remember fax machines were cutting-edge technology, “You’ve Got Mail” was a thrilling sound and “business casual” was a just a confusing new dress code.
I must admit that I’m guilty as charged for had started an argument with the phrase, “Back in those days, when I was a consultant, we actually had to…”
But the fact is the world of work is constant evolving. To stay current and competitive in the workplace, I had to adapt and learn from the YOUNG’s playbook.
Y – YEARN TO LEARN industry trends & technologies.
O – OPENNESS to feedback and new ideas.
U – UNCONVENTIONAL THINKING and be fearless with new ideas.
N – NETFLIX & CHILL! Take breaks. Work-life balance. Don’t burnout.
G – GET GROOVY with our own unique style and flair.
Remember, age should never be a barrier to employment. Individuals of all ages can bring valuable skills, experiences to the workplace.
So don’t be old and out of touch like back in my days, when I was a young ciku and I actually had to….
