Happy Wesak Day, everybody!
As we reflect on Buddha’s teachings on kindness and compassion, let’s also remember that being nice doesn’t mean being a doormat. We can still be assertive, set boundaries, and get things done without resorting to unkindness or aggression.
As Buddha said, “If you propose to speak, always ask yourself, is it true, is it necessary, is it kind?”
So let us speak truthfully, kindly, and effectively. Let us strive to make a positive impact on the world, while staying true to our principles.
May this Wesak Day inspire us to be more compassionate and mindful in all that we do.
