Today, I delivered a talk at an HRDC Sarawak event with the topic, ‘Culture in a Hybrid Workplace: Embracing Change & Fostering Connectivity.’ I wrote a script for my closing, and I had been practicing my closing script for days. Until last night, before I went to sleep, I was still murmuring and memorising my script, okay! Then I went on stage today, and everything was gone! I couldn’t remember anything!
Well, I know it’s quite normal that once you are on stage, you will get so nervous that everything will fly away, just like how before exams, we get brain freeze, right?
So let me type out my script right now from memory, even though I didn’t get to do my closing as planned:
“In a hybrid workplace, every step toward connecting starts with CURIOSITY, driving us to constantly learn and grow.
This curiosity naturally leads to OPENNESS, as we embrace ideas and new ways of working.
Openness then helps us NAVIGATE TECHNOLOGY more effectively, using it not just as a tool but as a bridge.
A bridge that equips us to NURTURE relationships, supporting each other, no matter the distance.
This nurturing fosters EMPATHY, allowing us to appreciate and include everyone’s unique challenges and strengths.
From empathy, we move to CELEBRATING all wins, big or small, boosting our collective morale.
And in these celebrations, we build TRUST, the final thread that connects us all, creating a united story.”
Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to HRDC Sarawak and all the delegates today for the cheers. It has been truly encouraging and hope that I will get continue to practice and refine my public speaking skills.
