A lot of cynics will tell me… “I’m paid to work, not to make friends.”
Well, I don’t disagree. But all I’m saying is… it would be easier if you have allies at work.
Your work friends are the ones who will cover for you when you’re running late, laugh with you over inside jokes that make work less dull and, hype you up when imposter syndrome creeps in.
Of course, not every colleague is your friend, and you don’t need to force connections with everyone. But having at least one ally, that one work friend who has your back, understands your struggle and makes work a little less lonely, can make all the difference.
So yes, you’re paid to work. But trust me, the journey is much smoother when you don’t have to walk it alone.
