One thing I’ve learned from managing countless disciplinary cases, and being a leader myself for two decades, is this:
When a leader/manager messes up, the treatment is often harsher than when an executive does.
Why? Because as a leader… We should know better.
That’s the unspoken truth of leadership. We’re held to a higher standard and expected to regulate our emotions. Stay professional, stay calm, they say.
Even when our team doesn’t.
Even when we’re under extreme pressure.
Even when we’re right.
Ugh! It’s not always fair, I know. And it’s definitely not easy.
But hey, we’re not being paid the big bucks just to sign off timesheets and say “Noted with thanks.”
We’re paid for the pressure.
We’re paid for the restraint.
We’re paid for the accountability.
Leadership is privilege.
But honestly? It’s also pain.
So if you’re feeling tired from trying to do the right thing all the time, I see you.
It’s exhausting. But it’s worth it, I promise.
Because when we lead better, we build better people.
And that’s the kind of legacy no bonus can buy.
Macam tu, k! NEXT!
