The other day I was on a 6D5N family vacation in Vietnam, following a tour.
During the trip, I befriended a lovely couple who run a small restaurant in Malacca.
The wife manages the front of house.
The husband manages the back of house.
So I asked, “What happens when both of you are on vacation together, like now?”
Her answer was so so simple, “We close the restaurant.”
The HR in me couldn’t help it but probe further:
“So what happens to your employees? Put them on annual leave?”
Her reply warmed my heart. ❤️
“Oh no, all salary paid as usual. We don’t force leave”
Even as small business owners, they get it.
We don’t force leave.
Especially when the company isn’t suffering heavy losses.
Period.
