Saturday night, I had the privilege of attending Douglas Lim’s Gala Screening for his new one-hour YouTube Special, aptly titled “Made in Malaysia”, his first full special available for the public for free.
In his special, he said something that struck me profoundly when describing his own glass ceiling.
He said, “I’m not young, I’m 47 years already. But maybe it’s time I got off my lazy ass and all these stupid excuses and at least try.”
I resonated with that so much, because the same thing happened to me when I transitioned my career from a fancy corporate job into becoming a HR Influencer at 45.
Watching him talk about Malaysia with so much love and ambition, I felt inspired.
So yes!
Be proud to be a Malaysian.
Be proud to be a Gen X who dared to transition your career in your mid-40s in 2025.
Be proud that as we approach our next decade, we are still trying and moving!
If you want a good laugh and a reminder that you can start your dreams at any age, go watch his YouTube Special: https://youtu.be/xKVr7_cfC1E?si=cYgI1A3U1DXKRDD6
