POV: Managing the New Generation at Work

Here’s what I’ve learned about managing the younger generation.

The old script does not land the same anymore.

Traditional mentorship and telling them to “pay their dues” are all outdated storylines.

Especially when we proudly say, “Back then… we worked late nights to build character.”

Lagilah they tak minat.

Because Gen Z didn’t grow up in a world where loyalty to a company means anything.

In fact, they watched their parents get laid off after decades of service.

So when we talk about sacrifice for future reward, they always calculate the risk! Really!

But… here’s what they value:

  1. Transparency
  2. Value
  3. Purpose

They want to know why does this work matter, how does this help me grow, and what happens if I do well.

Yes…

And honestly, I don’t think it’s a generational flaw.

Maybe it’s just our management style was built for an economic climate that no longer exists.

The org chart has outlived the dinosaurs.
