Many have asked me, “Aunty, if I tender my resignation notice on a Sunday, when will my notice period start? Sunday or the next working day on Monday?”
Sigh.
Honestly, when I read this kind of message I feel resah. Sebab…. why is your resignation like that?
Anyway, to answer that question, we need to refer to Employment Act 1955 Section 12(4), which says that notice of termination of contract (i.e. your resignation) shall be in writing and may be given at any time and on any day, and it will start on that day itself.
But like I always say, it’s just 1-2 days. Work it out together, no matter how bad things are.
I shall not say more because we are all working adults after all.
