I’m someone who clears my work emails every working day when my out-of-office reply is not on.
It’s a habit I’ve built over the years because I’ve learned that speed of response matters.
When I was in corporate, I received an average of 100-200 emails every day, including spam, EDMs and emails I was copied in.
And one of the simplest ways I managed my inbox was to look at where my name was.
TO: I am the intended recipient. Read it. And if there’s a question or action for me, I respond.
CC (Carbon Copy): I’m being kept in the loop. Read it for awareness. I don’t necessarily need to respond unless something is specifically directed at me or I have something relevant to add.
BCC (Blind Carbon Copy): I’m being kept in the loop privately. Read it for awareness. I don’t respond usually.
This simple system has helped me manage my emails for years.
Hope it helps.
