POV: Owning Your Credit

It’s pretty difficult for someone to take credit for your idea if you deliver it with such authority that nobody can forget it.

So speak up with confidence.

Use decisive language that shows you’re taking ownership of what you’re saying.

If someone likes your idea, yank the credit right back by thanking them.

And when the meeting is over, follow up with an email, copying higher management and summarising your idea to put in on the record.

Never be shy about owning your work.

Go ahead. Do it.

Always make your contribution visible while the work is happening.
