Now today, 14th April 2022, Forty Fucking Four plus 1 day, also my 1,003rd consecutive day putting up original contents in IG and LinkedIN, I want to write about too young.
“How old are you?”
“I am 29.”
“WHAT?! I don’t believe you!”
*took out the IC and showed it to her*
“Do I really look that old?”
“No, but you are a branch manager, so I think cannot be so young!”
Riiggghtttt… I shall take that as a compliment, right?
I didn’t know being a Branch Manager requires you to be older…
Wait… I only had 3 years of working experience after all. Most branch managers had much more experience than I did. I actually was one of the youngest branch manager in the company.
You know how I became a Branch Manager at such a young age?
Because I am smart? Perhaps. But I was fortunate to be with leaders that believed in my potential.
Also, I worked super hard. Like blood, sweat and tears, literally hard too. It has nothing to do with my age.
But being young was not easy either. Most whom I managed were older than me, some much older. It. Was. Not. Easy.
I’ve made so much mistakes, failing over and again. However, every time I get back up, I learn a little bit more about managing a team, young & old. It was quite an experience that had taught me so many new life lessons which contributed to the success I have today.
Is age just a number? No, it’s not. Every number counts. Every year counts.
So we embrace. Embrace whatever number we are at. And Live.
