The Hare & The Tortoise

Most of us would had read about this dear Aesop’s Fables about how the hare so arrogantly looked down on the tortoise in a race against each other that caused the hare to lose the race. The hare who was so much faster than the tortoise, took a nap before the finish line & the tortoise quietly walked past the hare slow yet steadily, crossing the finish line before the hare woke up.

Well, it’s not like the hare cannot take a nap, but the fatal mistake the hare made was he took the nap BEFORE the finish line instead of AFTER the finish line.

Just like when we were studying for exams, it’s important to not get so smug and think we knew everything. It’s important we stay focus and keep burning the midnight oil till the exams were over.

Just like when we were working on closing a business deal, it’s important to not get overconfident and thought that the fantastic business proposal/presentation was enough. We need to stay focus and keep following up till the business was awarded.

Just like when we are working on a personal goal, it’s important to not get lazy and think that the job is done before it is finished. We need to stay focus and keep working hard till the final goal is achieved (oh my 100K!).

Stay focused and don’t get smug/overconfident/lazy before the finish line. But when we do cross it, then we are allowed to take a break, if it makes sense.

Have a great reunion dinner tonight, everybody. Always remember, don’t take each other for granted before our very own finish line 😉
