Today I am officially on duty as HR On-Site. Every day, each of us in the HR team will take turns to be physically present in the office.
When I was in operations I remember one thing that our contractors really appreciated was that I took the time to go on-site where they were working at to attend to their HR queries. Yes, in this day and age we can connect via email/WhatsApp etc. but it still doesn’t beat the comfort of seeing the consultant in person so whatever issues/queries can be acknowledged & addressed on the spot. And showing up is also a gesture to recognize their importance and we do care.
Besides, we need to inspect what we expect & people will respect what we inspect. So it’s also important for us to do our rounds in the office to ensure whoever checked in is following safety SOPs. Make sure they are wearing their masks at their desks. Make sure they social distance from one another. Make sure aunties are disinfecting the common areas especially the door knobs/handles! (I don’t know about you, ever since this pandemic started, I am quite phobic twisting public door knobs with my hands)
And since we are the only team who is permanently on-site now this MCO3, it’s also our duty to open and close shop.
Okie dokie… now I have to go do my rounds with my 1-meter wooden ruler =}
