This is George. He is the head of our IT Helpdesk.
The other day my laptop went amok. Over 10 days, it went blue screen and auto-restarted for freaking 49 times. The team tried whatever they could but it was still restarting, so naturally the next solution was to replace it.
Now, the process of replacing a laptop here is not as direct as it sounds. A typical waiting period is 4-5 weeks. Now, with the kind of work I do, I don’t have 4 weeks.
Enters George. He moved heaven & earth and got me a new one 2 weeks later.
And this is just one of the many things that our IT team has been working hard on to improve esp since the pandemic started. Besides HR, IT is the other team that has been super busy day in day out. With the trend of remote working on the rise, IT tickets and call volumes skyrocketed as expected.
Often I see them clocked into the office before dawn & leaving only late night. They were in the office on weekends & public holidays. I’ve also seen them camping in the office for 36 hours straight without rest to ensure the network is up and running.
Such dedication.
So this Monday, I want to give a shoutout to our IT team for making it possible for us to work wherever we want, whenever we want.
And being so patient supporting us impatients.
