This is Clement. Who is a consultant with our IT specialization team.
Like my HR & Admin Manager, he was also one who took a pay cut to join us for he wanted to pursue his career in the people business.
The first time I got to know him was over a phone call. Working from home, it was a Thursday evening during one of those many lockdown period last year. He emailed us his job application, I read his resume and I thought, interesting… a Sales Manager applying for an Executive job.
So, I called him up to understand why and we spoke on the phone for more than 1 hour because besides being quite a chatty one, he was also quite a curious one, asking a lot of questions.
I remember when I was talking to him that night, I was thinking, “Not bad this kid” for he did his homework well. Though he was not from the industry, his knowledge about the recruitment & the people business was not too shabby.
After we ended the call, I then pitched him personally to the hiring manager and he was hired eventually.
Anyways, last month when I was signing his incentive letter, I remember thinking again “Not bad this kid” because for someone who has been with us for less than 1 year, it was quite an impressive amount.
You see, this is what I like about this recruitment business. Seniority is never a priority. Put in the hard work and you will see the money rolling in.
Happy weekend everybody. It’s going to be a busy weekend for me for I need to work this weekend to rush reports and chasing deadlines. But it’s okay. You know like that old saying from Confucius, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
