Did you know that several European countries, including France, Spain and Portugal, have introduced laws recognising employee’ Right to Disconnect?
In simple terms,. this means employees can disengage from work-related calls, messages and emails outside working hours, subject to the rules and exceptions applicable in each country.
In Malaysia, we currently have no specific Right to Disconnect provision under the Employment Act 1955.
Of course, businesses still need to operate, and certain roles may require employees to be contactable during genuine emergencies.
But where should we draw the line between work responsibilities and personal time?
Do you think Malaysia should introduce the Right to Disconnect?
Come tell aunty and vote.
